About Star Australian Shepherds

Our kennel was founded in 1996 when we purchased our first australian shepherd, a blue merle female called Thornapple Cause and Effect, otherwise known as Sally. Sally was sired by CH Thornapple Diamonds N Spurs and her dam was Thornapple Passionate Kisses. I decided to add this second breed of dog to my family, (me and Frank Jr., my standard poodle) because Frank had severe separation anxiety and I knew he needed a playmate. Since Frankie had a girlfriend in the area where we lived, a little border collie, I decided I'd research the breeds to find a dog that would be similar in size and energy, but possibly something with a little more ability to focus than the border collie, and I came to the conclusion that the australian shepherd would be the perfect fit for us. Soon after, I purchased another puppy from Ellen Brandenburg of Thornapple Australian Shepherds, another blue merle female, Thornapple Star Effect, whom I called Star. Star is sired by Int'l CH Thornapple Climate Controlled, "Lorenzo" and her dam is Thornapple Hit the Light.

I knew immediately after having lived with my two aussies girls that I would eventually want to breed and show these dogs. I immediately decided that in doing so, I would only breed the best dogs, hoping to improve upon the wonderful qualities that these dogs exhibited.

Our show career didn't begin until 2003, when I purchased my first male, Richwood's Totally Cool, otherwise known as TC. TC is a beautiful red merle with gorgeous turqoise eyes. TC has now a finished UKC Champion and has passed OFA with a score of good.

Eventually I decided that I wanted to bring in another outstanding line to our kennel. I talked with Linda Wilson of Briarbrook Australian Shepherds and purchased a pick puppy from a litter out of CH Briarbrooks Silver Medallion and CH Mad About You. I named her Briarbrooks Mademoiselle and I call her "Elle". Elle took her first major AKC points at the tender age of 8 months and at 14 months Elle finished her AKC Championship! Way to go CH Briarbrooks Mademoiselle!!!

In the summer of 2004 I purchased a beautiful gorgeous blue merle male from Debbie Tapp of Millcreek Australian Shepherds. He is Millcreek's He's a Star and his call name is Hank. Hank took his first 2 AKC points at 9 months, at this first show. Hank has been in Missouri for the 2005/2006 show year being handled by Kimber Shields, a professional handler.

Also, in our kennel are a couple of our own pride and joy puppies, the first puppies I have kept from any of Star's litter, Star's Silver Deposit. Posey, as I call her, was sired by CH Briarbrooks Silver Certificate "Kato" and Star's American Idol, otherwise known as Jessie, also out of the litter sired by CH Briarbrooks Silver Certificate. I'm so happy I kept these two girls, as they both portrays all of the looks and qualities I had hoped for out of a Star litter.

And finally, we have Harry, also known as Star's Big Dipper. Harry is a beautiful red tri male sired by CH Mill Creeks Rave Review. Harry is absolutely gorgeous, and I cannot wait to put him in the show circuit! Look out, here we come.
